FAQs (Frequently Asked Questions) What is SCRIP? SCRIP is a term used to describe gift cards that contribute a designated percentage of the card value to your school or organization when purchased. The contribution is made by the card-issuing merchant while the buyer is able to spend the full face value. Amounts of contributions vary depending upon the merchant issuing the gift card. How does buying gift cards from Simplified SCRIP help my school or organization? When you buy gift cards from Simplified SCRIP, a percentage is donated from the merchant to the school or organization. These donations are tracked by Simplified SCRIP and payments are issued quarterly to the school or group. Are SCRIP Cards the same as Gift Cards you can purchase at a store? Yes. The only difference is that when purchased through the Simplified SCRIP program, your school or organization will benefit from a monetary contribution from the merchant. Does the percentage that the school or organization earns come from me or from the gift card merchant? When you buy gift cards from Simplified SCRIP, a percentage is donated to your school or organization by the gift card merchant. For example, if you buy a $50 Boston Store SCRIP gift card, your Boston Store SCRIP gift card is worth $50 and the 6% is donated by Boston Store to your school or organization. Are there any additional costs to me? The only additional fees are shipping charges.  You will be charged $1.08 or less per order for shipping. The higher the order, the lower the shipping cost. Am I obligated to participate after trying the program out? No. You can participate as much or as little as you like. Is there a minimum order quantity to participate? No. There is no minimum order quantity or dollar amount required to participate. How will I know how much my Simplified SCRIP purchases have earned for my school or organization? With each order, you will receive a purchase summary of the total amount of dollars raised from that purchase. Additionally, you will have an account with Simplified SCRIP where you may view all purchases and earnings. These donations shown online represent all mail order, online order, phone order, on-site orders, and Auto Orders. Changes in purchases such as returns or exchanges that affect donation history may not show online. Please note that payments to your group reflect the official accounting and NOT the online account history. How can my School or Organization Participate? Complete the enrollment form and fax, e-mail or mail back to Simplified SCRIP. One of our fundraising consultants will contact you to get your program started. Can I participate in the program even if my school or organization hasn’t signed up? Yes! When you place your order, indicate which school you would like the contributions to go to. Donations will be tracked by Simplified SCRIP and payments issued quarterly to the school or group of your choice. Can friends and relatives participate in the program? Yes. When they complete their orders, have them choose your school or organization as the recipient of the merchant donations. How often does the school or organization get a check for the contributions earned? Each school or organization will be mailed out a check quarterly. When will I receive my SCRIP gift cards once I order? You should receive the SCRIP gift cards in approximately 7 business days from the time your order is received. What if I don’t see a particular merchant I would like to purchase SCRIP gift cards from? If you don’t see a merchant you would like, either list the merchant on the printed order form in the “Suggest a Merchant” box or email info@simplifiedscrip.com. Why can’t I pay by credit card? Credit card transaction may cost as much as 3% of the purchase. To ensure a donation is created with each purchase Simplified SCRIP can not accept credit cards as a form of payment. By paying by check or ACH withdrawal from your checking account, Simplified SCRIP can save the transaction fees credit cards charge and pass the savings on to your school or organization. Do the gift cards expire? Each merchant has different terms and conditions listed on the back of the gift card for your review. Prior to purchase, you may visit the card-issuing merchant website to view any expiration rules or restrictions.   What if I have problems with my order? Please contact our customer service department at 1.800.514.1891.   **Refunds/Returns/Exchanges: Order discrepancies, delivery issues, refund/exchange requests, or other problems with orders must be presented to Simplified SCRIP within 45 days of the order date.  Returned gift card orders must have the original face value at the time of purchase on the gift card when returned.  If returned gift cards have a value less than the face value at the time of sale, the customer is liable for the difference and may be charged a fee in accordance with the discrepancy.  Due to the nature of gift cards and their inherent value, gift card returns, exchanges or requests for a re-distribution can not be made after the 45 day service period.
